My husband is working away and I was using his cerbie today as my car was at the garage. Had no problems driving to my destination, but when I got back in the car, started it up, went to pull away the indicator lights started to flash and bleep, the car cut out in the middle of the road and it would not restart, it just sat there bleeping at me. The doors were also clunking as they were locking and unlocking themselves. The ignition would come on but the car would not start. After a few minutes the bleeping had stopped and the car let me start it again. Got home, did not lock it, got back in the car 10 mins later and as soon as I opened the door it started bleeping at me again. Ignition would come on but not let me start again, I got very p***ed off, shut the door walked away and left it bleeping. Now the door wont open, every time I press the door button to get in it starts bleeping at me. Any ideas whats happening please,as I dont want my husband to come back to more problems with his car!!!

I'm not sure what's happening but from your descrption it seems the alarm is not disarming or has gotten out of sync some how.

If it will let you open the boot you can try and reset the door / alarm controller and see if that helps. On top of the petrol tank behind a velcro'd strip are a load of control boxes which are velcro'd to the petrol tank. Find the one which says door controller or something like that. Disconnect all the connectors from it and wait 30 seconds. When you connect it back up it should click the doors. Then see if it's working properly again.

Worth a try at this stage.

I've also found the following previous thread which seems relevant.

I wholly concur. I had a similar problem - just unplug that fat white connector on the black box on top of the petrol tank so it resets.

Thanks for your advice Steve, I will take a look at that tomorrow, I know my husband had to do that a few weeks ago cause the window would not shut when the door was closed. Should I expect the alarm to go off when I do this?

The alarm will/should not go off when you do this since you are unplugging the control unit.

The problem you describe is more than likely the earth strap which is located BEHIND the petrol tank - it is only held on with a bolt and can work loose (which is really handy as you need to pull the petrol tank forward to resolve the issue (dealer job/electrically minded mate ).....if this is the problem you will get a recurrent bleeping and clicking noise which is the system shorting out...best thing you can do short term is remove the lead from the battery until someone can sort it out for you....I had this problem when the car went up on a ramp for its sports exhauust - it only took a slight flex of the chassis and the strap fell off and I was buggered for 4 hours whilst they located the problem...I would suggest going for this as it sounds identical to your problem.....

Of course it may just be possessed and not want a woman's delicate touch !!

Good Luck
