How much do you reckon it would cost to repair the damaged Cerbera in the 1st page of classifieds?

I think it'd be easier just to buy a decent one in the first place.

The pictures don't reveal much about the damage done...
I suppose it would be an interesting deal if the chassis isn't bent but replacing the body panels still costs quite a lot (AFAIK).

Go and check the car out.
IMO it is impossible to judge honestly without checking the underpants...

PAnels are very expensive and the labour will be a lot as well. If you do it yourself and try and get panels from other broken cerbs (is this possible!?) then it will be very cheap motoring.

Thanks Rich - have tried that but only get a blank page (absolutely blank!). Might need to look at my browser settings.

just had a look at the car in question,
two things
1)yeah looks an easy repair and for a couple of grand should see it back on the road BUT when i was looking for a car if it had any sort or cheqered history i walked away not becouse it had been bodged or looked crap but when i came to sell it id have the same problm finding a buyer fair enough its cheep but find a straight one and make an offer of what you can afford.
2)in the add the seller says he'll sell repaired so dont try to price it up just ask the man

You should be very careful. What looks like an easy repair could be a lot more involved. Because you cannot really test drive the car, it may have pre-accident faults (e.g worn clutch, dodgy gearbox/diff, or engine problems like head gaskets). Also it says that the oil cooler is split. This could mean that the engine has run without oil, either at the crash scene or by the vendor. It would have to be very cheap to be viable, taking into account re-sale value. Not trying to put you off, because projects like this can be very rewarding, but consider everything before comitting yourself!

so is it worth the asking price?
I think that they want too much for it.
anybody agree disagree?

alex - I agree!!!
You could probably get them to drop by a grand or two then it would be good. But I am not sure that it is as cheap to repair as suggested above. Depends if you want a cheap car or a good value car.

As already mentioned above, I would think about the resale value - you may be happy knowing you have had it properly repaired, but what will a potential buyer think when you go to sell. There is another thread going along these lines for Bandit (I think it is) in the TVR general forum - he's got to make a decision about whether or not to accept his car as a write-off.

I've just bought a 4.2 and wouldn't have gone anywhere near anything crash repaired just on the off-chance that there was a lingering problem.

BTW, LOWE, it's not you that's selling it is it? Your profile looks similar to the vendor's!
