There is a "clicking noise coming form the steering column/instrument area on my 4.5. It only happens on the overrun between say 2500 and 3600 rpm or so and (I know this sounds crazy) seems to mirror the pattern of pos and bangs on the overrun from the exhaust. Weird!!!
Any clues to what it might be. Nothing appears to be loose or rattling about

Apparently there is a somewhat bizarre system of flaps and wires to work the air vents in cerbs. These can cause clicking and tapping noises from the dash under certain conditions. This is certainly the case for early cars. I’m not sure about later ones though. Mine does it sometimes but I just wind the windows down

A good thought. I'll have a scrabble around this weekend if it isn't too sub-zero and see if any of the system could be at fault

it's probably just the servo one-way vacuum valve doing it's jo9b properly .. when it stops ticking, now that's the time to worry ..
