Very depresed - Need some reassurance!!

I need some reassurance from all you cerbie owners out there.
My 4.2 has gone in for what I assumed would be some very straight forward work in replacing some very badly corroded water pipes, a new exhuast hanger and getting a few other bits re powder coated. The water pipes were ordered and the Garage set out dissmantling my pride and joy. Only to discover that the parts received from TVR are completely diferent to those removed, and the extent of the problem was at first not really known. Now it looks as if all the steel pipes within the cooling system need to be replaced!!!
Can't blame the garage they have been great, but being a new cerbie owner this has seriously disilliousioned me, and although I new the tales of regarding beware of ropey cars and I looked for what I thought was a good one, this has come as a bit of a surprise. I haven't had much use out of car as its been winter and christ knows how long the new parts will take.
Can't help feeling this would not have happened had I brought (I hate to say it) a Porsche!
I need reassurance from the TVR faithful that come spring and summer I will not regret keeping the car and stumping up tones of cash for repairs.
Has anybody else had a similar problem with water pipes or with getting the wrong parts for a repair?

unlucky mate, but being a TVR doesn't make it more susceptible to letting you down. I was made unemployed at Christmas and as if on cue my Saab needed £300+ work doing on it's MOT and my sons 106 Rallye blew it's head gasket (£300+).....oh and my central heating controller packed in (£300+)not TVR heating btw

Harsh dude!
But as Jeremy says, sit back and admire and then consider the fun that the sunshine brings when it comes to owning a TVR.
It will bring a massive smile to your face I am sure and you'll know that the water pipes will be sorted in future as well.

it's not the thermostat but the gas control unit for a warmair heating system and the cost was to have it fitted, I bought one from a supplier and fitted it meself for £160.......Griff is still running strong though
might be a good idea to warn your (obviously not TVR-savvy) garage never to take a tiv to bits until the parts have arrived and you can compare.
other than that, did this very job the other week on a cerbie .. common to have the pipes all rusty - watch out for stainless versions hopefully appearing in a few weeks time once a customer's car has been used as demo. in the meantime a damn good scrape and painting usually does the trick.
for peace of mind replace rubber hoses with the silicone replacement kits (a bargain) .. to give you a rough idea of cost :
silicone hoses plus std tvr steel pipe replcements fitted and new thermostat / antifreeze / check over can be done for under 500 pounds. std turnaround on this job 3 days.
