Do any of you chaps fix your own cars? Reason I'm asking is that would be the only way I could contemplate /afford running a Cerbera. Also are all the parts TVR specific or are ball joints, brake discs etc from mainstream manufacturers.

You can certainly do most of the work yourself. The only tricky bits are adjusting the tappets (checking them is easy) and setting up the engine with the laptop. Brakes/suspension etc. are all straightforward mechnically. Having a 4-post ramp helps

How often do the tappets need setting then? Its just a bucket & shim job isn't it? Those should stay set for 20K + providing your cam doesn't wear out......
What about the consumable parts?

20k!! 20 miles more like. Seriously though, ive done 6k miles in mine since purchase and theyre still fine but have heard tales of 1500 mile tappet adjustments!

...or the valves don't stretch (sp6)

For the v8's they only adjust the tappets at 12,000 mile service intervals (according to the manual and most of the dealers).

I paid Dream machines for a full 12k service, including tappets £906 inc VAT.

on that basis the servicing costs arent too high, and the book gets stamped!

All non service items (brakes, suspension, drive shafts (they can snap!) etc are very easy to change, easier than most cars in reality.

You could use a good indapendant like Jools who will do the same work at half the cost of a dealer.
