Can anyone please tell me, Is it normal for the 4.5 engine on the 2002 models to be noisey on tickover when cold? my car has now done 1400 miles and i am concerned about the noise it makes, Please remember this is the first TVR i have owned or V8 for that matter, when the car is warm its as quite as a mouse

Hello,

I think all Cerbs are fairly lumpy when cold. Mine makes quite a din and sounds a bit tractorish at idle when you first start her up. When up to temp it sounds great!

I shouldn't really worry about it unless there is a specific noise you can isolate from the general cold engine grumbles.

But don't listen to me, I am no expert.

Hi

Agree with Tony, all the AJP V8s sound a bit "agricultural" on starting cold. I presume your 4.5 may not clatter quite as much as the older 4.2s with harder cams. Have to say I was very pleasantly surprised how tractable and smooth the engines are when hot.

Find another local Cerbera to compare with to set your mind at ease, but they all sound noisy for the first few minutes when cold. Hard to describe noises though!
