Hello all,

Just had the cats removed from the Cerb.

It now sounds awesome (even more so). When accelerating hard the noise is just superb - not to mention a torrent of machine gun fire on the overrun.

Best £100 I've spent in a while.

Had the same done to mine bout 5 weeks ago, bought the replacement pipes from joolz. My 4.5 has never sounded so good! Shame about the weather tho as can't get out much.

BTW: If the skies ever clear I know of a lovely road between Dunstable and Milton Keynes...and I'm sure I'd make a decent co-driver!!!

Hello,

I have noticed that the car accelerates more smoothly and tends not to kangaroo as much at 30mph. The throttle response seems slightly crisper as well.

From what I have read an ECU remap is required to experience any real power increases from the change. This is something I shall look into in more depth quite soon.

I don't get out much to MK or Dunstable so do not know of this road. You will have to show me soon Animal.

I can recommend that if you should remove your cats - do not leave them laying about or you will stub your toe on them like I just did.

I managed to set off a neighbours car alarm with the mother of all pops/bangs.

I had heard that aligning them could be a bit hit and miss - so I got Offord to do it. Took about 40mins in total.

Is it much louder? I have a sports ehxaust on mine(loud) but i would'nt want it mega loud.
Did you just replace with straight pipes or with some sort of scilencer(?) box?

Yes, it is quite a lot louder. Mainly when you are accelerating. I should imagine a sports exhaust with no cats would sound far too loud.

Stright pipes were used.

Im glad im not the only person who thinks the cerb is quicker decatted. Mine is a pre quiet cams model, and i find it much better accelerating than before.

Also, it seems to be more responsive.

Imagine what TVR would charge for this much extra grin!!!

They don't have more power without the cats, there's been plenty of rolling road tests with and without. I do agree it feels like you get better response, especially at low revs.

Glad you got it sorted, my Cerb battery died over Christmas, so after a few attempts at starting it I shoved it on charge for a day. Went to start it yesterday and it did the loudest backfire I have ever heard in my life, my poor dad nearly had his fourth heart attack.

I have a 4.2 with cats fitted, and the sports exhust, it is loud now and I can agree that setting of car alarms on the overrun is just great great
But what do you guys do when it comes to MOT time and the dreaded emissions check? Or should I not ask?

Looked into doing it myself, but seeing as fitting the Leven kit took all of my DIY know how I thought I'd better leave well alone!!

Totally different job on a Griff, there's a precat and a couple of other cats I think, and you need special manifolds for the precats.

It's dead easy on a Cerbera because the cats are just a couple of tubes running underneath the car.
