Happy christmas and new year to you all.
I'm currently looking to change my Chimera for the Cerbera.
My problem is i'm not sure which model.
I'd be interested to hear from owners of 4.2's, 4.5's and of course the straight six. The knowledge you have gained from owning and running these models could put me out of my misery and enable me to finally make my decision.
Thanks. Darren

Darren, changed from a 5 litre chim almost a year ago to the day, to a 4.5 cerbera (2000) lightweight model, no contest on performance once past 3000rpm the cerbera lights the touch paper !! Chimaera was more user friendly on a day to day basis though. have not regretted making the change..
Hope this helps

Own a early 4.2 (96) recently purchased, use it as everyday transport. Essentially there is very little difference between performance of all 3 models (in real world). Depends a lot on your budget. I'd bank on max £3k yr servicing at a main dealer, less at independant, baring any major catastrophes! From the ones I've driven/been driven in, I've always preferred the V8, I wanted to avoid sp6s because of earlier engine issues - which are sorted out now! The difference between 4.2 and 4.5 are minimal. Both are exceptional engines, love the noise, love the performance esp. pickup over 3k revs. My car does clatter a fair bit when cold, the earlier engines tended to be noisier due to the racing cams. If its the ultimate engine your are after it still has to be the 4.5 Red Rose IMO, I'm sure Danny et al can tell you a lot more about these beasts and any other info than I, just make sure you drive a few first!
