IMHO, both the Cerb and E-Type are the type of cars that turn heads, look beautiful, sound wonderfull and give you the buzz when driving them.
They both have positive and negative aspects, keeping an eye on oil pressure etc. so I would have a drive of a cerb and see which you prefer.
I bet if I said to my wife I wanted to swap for an E-Type she would say I was mad and list a number of reasons why the E-Type was a stupid decision, just as people are saying the Cerb is a stupid idea to you.

Ignore the detractors.
If you were comparing the cerbie to a volvo/beemer/etc.. then yes it may seem unreliable and require a lot more TLC than these cars.
However, if you already own a classic car then you are the ideal person to buy a TVR. You will have realistic expectations and understand that gauges need to be watched and the cars serviced regularly etc...
Try one and see if you like it...

Paul, contact "Racing Green" the new TVR / Jaguar dealership just outside Guildford.
I am sure that they would be able to help you make up your mind. They have a fantastic selection of classic jaguars including E-Types, as well as all the current TVR range.
For what it's worth, I think you will find that a lot of people criticise their cars when they are not working properly.
Unfortunately not many make positive comments when they "do exactly what is said on the tin"....OK....plastic
I have owned my Cerbera 4.5 for over 2 years and everything is working properly, nothing has fallen off, it has never let me down, and I have neverhad to claim anything on the warrenty!
There, I've said it now!

Can't tell you much about the Cerbera, what i can tell you is i had a lot of advice not to dissimilar when i decided to change from a 1979 911. My choice was a 4.0 Chimaera.
The car has been in my ownership since Sept 2001, in that time it has performed without fault and given me hours of fun .... a grin appears on my face just thinking about it! my advice .... your missing out!
Good luck

Far from mad, both are phenomenal cars.
The AJP V8, if well maintained, will last. However not as long as your Jaguar, but this is the price you pay for a racing engine.
The Cerb takes a bit of getting used to, but is surprisingly easy to drive, the main issues I've had to get used to is the large turning circle, poor wipers, and a very stiff handbrake. What it gives in return is phenomenal performance, road presence and the all important grin factor. Have a go in one and see how you get on.
Good luck!
