Hi
I have a couple of problems with my 99 Cerb 4.5, which somebody may be able to advise. After a longish run (40 miles) and the engine is at normal temp the engine trys to cut out and splutters (I have to keep blipping the loud pedal to keep her running) could this be fuel vapour lock? if so anybody cured this. The other question is how do I get to the handbrake warning light switch, it stays on permanatly (it was flickering but a tap on the handbrake used to sort it)
thanks
Alan
ps Happy Xmas to everybody.

Hi Alan,
Have you tried loosening the petrol cap?
Sometimes you can get a vacuum build up in the tank.
Only tighten it up half way, and see if it makes a difference.
No chance on the second point I drive a Chim.
All the best and festive greetings
Big Al.
Hi Alan
Can't offer much advice on the spluttering, could be due to a number of things. Is it just at idle? How long since your last service?
Your handbrake light is almost certainly due to the switch located under the handbrake itself. Pull out the gaiter around the lever to expose the switch and adjuster. Did I say adjuster? Sorry, been on the sherry, meant to say bit of bent aluminium. It's either come loose or just needs bending down a little.

Yep sorted the handbrake light, bent the ally bracket. The last service was 1 week ago, (18K). I have loosened the petrol cap to see if this cures it, but with this weather haven't had much of a chance to give her a run. I may go to Brighton Sunday (140M round trip) and see what happens.
Cheers
Alan

Filled her with Optimax, run to Brighton (140 mile round trip) no problems.
I do find it stange that the car nevers acts the same 2 days in a row, sometimes you can't start it with any throttle other times you have to use it, CHARACTER I think it's called!
Still if I wanted a car that behaved itself everyday, I would have bought another porker.
Thanks for your help.
