Door & Window Control Unit
Discussion
Arrrrgh! Its getting worse. Decided to attempt to jump start the Cerbera on Saturday, only to find the battery I was using wasn't up to it (not enough Amps). It started to turn, but just not fast enough to fire.
The really annoying thing is I can't get into the car at all now. Whilst the battery was flat, I could connect up a spare, and get the electrics to work. Windows would close, alarm would set. Now, neither driver or passenger door will open, nor will the windows drop/raise (or for that matter, the boot will not open with the badge), so my poor car has sat outside all weekend, a black bag carefully positioned to stop the rain getting in.
So, I've checked the 2 x 20Amp (I think) fuses which "protect" the passenger & drivers door/windows, and they appear to be intact.
The only thing I can think of is that the control unit in the boot has blown.
Anyone know any diagnostics I can perform to ascertain what the problem is? Can I test the door/window control unit - have access to multimete, anyone got a diagram??? Anyone know how much one will set me back?
Any help, will as always be appreciated, especially if I can get it going. At least I can charge up the battery, so I should be able to start it. Just wont be able to take it anywhere.
Thanks
Paul

More likely the cables weren't man enough for the job. A better idea is to connect the batteries up (should be a nice spark initially) and leave them like that for a few minutes to transfer charge into the main battery. Better still, connect the car battery up to another vehicle for 20 minutes or so- this should definitely get enough charge in.
Good luck!

Cheers Danny, the cables are up to it - I made sure I bought very heavy duty ones. I'll give the "charging" thing a go and see where that gets me. Got hold of a charger last night, so gives me something to do whilst avoiding the relatives.
Looks like it may have to be a new controller unit :-(
