Boot Release Mechanism Fault
Discussion
Had a similar problem a while ago. Ended up replacing the motor behind the badge that operates the release mechanism. You have to peel away some carpet, and it's a bit fiddly to get to, but can't be too hard as I managed it!
The motor is a bog standard central locking motor, got a replacement from local car stereo shop.
It may be worth checking that the button itself doesn't just need adjusting, there a couple of bolts that can be loosened/tightened behind the badge near the motor.
Hope some of that rambling helps!

I had this in the early days. It's fairly easy to remove the badge, rubber boot and spring. Give them all a good clean and re-assemble them with some grease in the boot. The trigger mech is very sensitive to the tightness of the two bolts when you put them back. Just play around until it's right. 10 minutes max.
