Having a 4.5 with a sports exhaust I love the popping and banging on overrun. I find myself driving round in 2nd or 3rd at about 3k revs constantly letting the engine decelerate the car to create this fantastic exhaust note. Can letting the engine decelerate the car damage the engine?

not sure if it was related, perhaps somebody can confirm that the pop and bangs are unburnt fuel in the exhaust - and if this means the cat is taking a pasting??

Yes that is about the size of it, unburnt fuel in the hot exhaust. The easy thing to do is to take the cats out, £90 for the new pipes and about 20 mins if you have ramps. The car sounds awesome, at low RPM it is nearly as it was but a little deeper but when you are giving it some revs, it is like two very big motorbikes on full bore, and the overrun

Where can you get the bypass pipes from, and how easy are they to fit? Is it really a 20 min job, or will it involve lots of swearing and bleeding knuckles trying to get the cats out ??

I think Jools does them for about £90, you will need ramps as they are a long way under the car. There are 4 bolts to get each cat off. I must admit I paid tyreservices £20 cash to do mine as I don't have a garage at the moment and it was raining.
Give Jools a call, you need to take a look at your current cats to make sure you get the correct ones.

Got my cat replacement pipes from Joolz for £90 plus delivery.
Really did only take bout 30 minutes to fit, did it over a pit so it was easy to get to.
The car sounds different again, and the noise when you get above 4000 revs is great.
Well worth the money and time spent! Nice one Joolz.
