My rear demist switch and little red led no longer work. The light flashed on and off, and then gave up, and the rear demist does not demist.

I had a look at the rear of the switch and there is a circuit board there. Does anyone know whether this is expensive to replace (not worthwhile!).

Also anyone any idea how to fix the windscreen wiper switch. The single/washer works, but the switch to keep the wipers going seems to have failed.

Wonderful TVR electrics !

I had same thing with wipers. Mine was caused by the switch on the motor itself. A previous thred deals with this i think, if not one of the members at East Sussec TVRCC wrote an article for Sprint on relacing it.

Common problems I'm afraid. Do your heater and cooling fans work OK and does the a/c switch on and off?. If not its a big bill because the control module has blown. I'ts an outrageous price as I found out last month when mine was done (about £250). If only the rear window demister is affected, could be dodgy switch (had that 3 years ago).
As for wipers - had mine fixed three times! Problem is water finds it's way down the scuttle and drips onto the wiper park switch causing corrosion and shorting. Good news is a new one is around 7 quid but fiddly to get to. Peninsula just replaced mine and said they have coated it with some goo (vaseline maybe?) to try to keep the water out

Regards

John

I've actually put a separate post about a similar subject a few minutes ago. Neither of the hot/cold air blowers on my car will fire up and the a/c and rear demist lights next to the blower controls are on constantly. Everything else seems fine (indicators, lights etc.). Checked the appropriate fuses but they are all OK.

Is there any way I can test the control module?

Hi Joolz,

No, I haven't done any work on it at all. It was fine a few days ago.

.... my *^%$&^$ speedometer has also packed up today, although the rev counter is working. Could this be the same problem or am I just really unlucky and have several unrelated faults?

Also, the passenger door decided to act a bit strangely this afternoon - window wouldn't go up when the passenger door was shut. Haven't really had time to test this one properly as it packed up in the dark but I have a horrible feeling something "electrically unpleasant" is happening

I had a problem with my speedo. The odometer and trip meter didn't work either. It turnde out to be a dodgy cable from the sender unit by the diff. Very easy to fix.
