Finally I can write about my new gearbox, It was built by Nick Cresswell of Glebe Eng, They build the boxes for the Tuscan Racecars, Fitted kindly by Fernhurst ( thks Brian), I wanted a close ratio box to help with those flat spots you get on a track, when 2nd is too slow and third doesn't have enough revs...,

The first four gears are straight out of the Tuscan Racecar, straight cut dog box, close ratios, the fifth gear is a normal helical gear as the standard box.
I have now done a few hundred miles and sort of settled into it, at first its a bit lumpy, but once you get into the swing of it..... its awesome and theres no going back!,

Bang it into first and go for your life, no need to lift off just bang it into second ( no need for the clutch!) foot still to the floor and charge on!, the gears engage sooo quickly, the revs just step down a touch and the power is still on, its indcredible, no delay at all, all the way up the box its fantastic, its so direct, it responds to every movement of the throttle,
Going down the box is even more fun, just blip it about 1500 revs and engage, ( took a while and alot of crunches to get that right!). you can now come down through the box with your left foot on the brakes, just hitting it through the box, it totally changes the way the car is, acceleration times easily are cut, and braking times are in a different league,

Driving it at lower revs a gentle hand and a good blip of the throttle are needed to help engage ( even more crunching to learn that!)both up and down the box, but its managable.

I never thought that something like this could change the peformance of the car so much, its like a totally different beast, a must have!.... just thought I would spread the word!

P.S. N Rickards.... if you are reading this... get back to work!

Seeing is believing, if your up Lincoln direction, I'll buy you a pint or three to see (from the passengers seat) the effect. May even be able to get hold of local ex-airfield for event.

it whines a little...infact quite alot, but its very bearable, over 4500 rpm can´t hear anything anyway!(no cats sports pipes...)

I love the sound of a straight cut box, combined with the sound of a Cerbera it must be heaven!
