Does anyone else have this?

When cold, particularly just after starting, the steering is very heavy as though the powersteering is not working.

I've noticed it getting worse as the weather has got colder. Could it be the fluid in the system getting thicker?

I think I get this too, although it is marginal.

Mind you, on cold, damp mornings the tickover on my Cerbie is lower when it is first started, so I have always thought (probably wrongly) that the engine wasn't turning over quickly enough to power the steering pump properly, since the problem goes away when moving - however slowly - just as long as the revs are slightly higher.

Hope there is nothing more to it anyway.

Upon reflection, I too seem to get this.

I always put it down to being a weakling

Same happens with me 96 4.2 only for the first couple of turns. Oil just needs to warm up I think nothing to serious.

Could it be a worn UV joint in the steering rack? Does the steering go 'square'? Maybe this is on its way?
