guys whilst doing the weekly under bonnet stuff, i disconnected the pipe from the rear of the passenger side airbox ( which leads to the ambient air pressure sensor - thanks Joolz). In my haste to go for a quick blast on saturday, i did not reconnect the pipe, but the car seems to be driving & pulling a lot more smoothly now & the mpg also seems to have got a lot better.
i'm a little worried that i may do some damage, has anyone else taken the pipe off? or does all this mean i need a new sensor?
I must admit that i'll leave it off if no ill effects will result, such is the improvement.
Darren.

Not familiar with that sensor, but if it's really measuring ambiant pressure then surely it would just be connected to fresh anyway regardless of where the pipe went. So unless your air filter is clogged or something, I wouldn't expect it to make any difference?

If it's actually a manifold absolute pressure sensor things are a bit different and leaving it off could really confuse the ECU - since the engine seems to be OK I assume it isn't a MAP sensor.
