Can any one help here. Tried FAQs, but not exactly my problem. Carpet is wet slap bang in the middle of the boot. Unfortunately the carpets are glued and not velcro or screwed. The side walls are dry, and I have sealed the fuel filler, bit still damp. I think it is coming from underneath, unless there are any unusual channels in the boot floor. Are there any possible wheelarch entry points or exhaust (standard) fitting points. Will resort to hose testing at weekend if necessary? Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!

Check the seals very carefully. Not sure how water ingress would reach the middle of the boot, worth checking though.

Unsure what it looks like under the carpet on my cerbie but I had an escort rally car once that had a rubbet grommet thing right in the middle of the boot. You may find that this (if there is one there)has perished and needs replacing. Although the carpet will probably need lifting carefully you can easily stick it back down with a contact adhesive.

Best check with someone like Andy at APM to be 100% sure.

When I picked my car up from the dealer, the middle of the boot floor was wet. It's not happened since, so I can only imagine that they used a pressure washer, and it forced the water through the seals.

Not much help to you though, I suppose.

Have you checked the number plate aperture and the seal around the tail lights?

Now you come to mention it I remember being told there are (two?) drain plugs (probably rubber) in the boot. I think it was TMS who told me this so ask them where to find them, or try Joolz!

It comes from behind the number plate where the bulbs are. Slap silicon in there! I think it's just a question of taking off the number plate and putting sealant around the light. I'm doing mine this very weekend.

Water only comes in when driving over wet roads, not when it is raining. Checked the number plate and light clusters, nothing. Tried the hose under the car and water came in. Either through wheel arch, or more likely there is a 'deflector' right underneath the boot, with two bolts going into chassis. Car going in next week due to probable carpet lifting and reglueing etc. Will post outcome for other PHers with similar problems.

Thanks for your replies/suggestions folks!
