Good evening everyone, I'm currently overhauling my steering rack.
I noticed that next to the hole where the torsion bar is riveted to the piston, there is another one with a thread ! (maybe 4mm) But there is no screw in it. Should there be one in there? What purpose would this have?

Cheers Peter

I seem to remember it having something in both holes. However my photos don't show both. Have a look on the technical drawing that the designer sent me.

Thank you very much, looks very interesting.
I think you're the one who made the instructions with photos for overhauling the steering rack, thank you for that too, helped me a lot. Did you change the 4 PTFE seals of the piston back then?
What do you think? Should I put a screw in? Maybe someone else has a photo where you can see it.

Yep that's me.

Yes I did change those seals as well. If it's all out and apart it's a good idea. You'd only kick yourself if it wasn't right once putting it all back in the car.

Just trying to think where my old pinion is and I can take a photo.
