I have a 98 Cerbera 4.5
My passenger outside door switch stopped working. The inside switch works just fine. The outside one was a bit finicky for a while and then stopped altogether. So, I replaced the switch with the TVR M1178 switch from motaclan website.

I just replaced the switch inside the side view mirror by cutting the old switch and connecting the wires, but it still doesn't work. I took off the door panel but see all the wires are nicely wrapped and am hesitant to take all the wires apart, cuz I don't want to do more damage, but that is the only thing I can think of next.

Anyone have any better ideas to diagnose this? Is there something simple I am missing, like a relay or fuse or something dumb that would let the inside switch work but not the outside switch? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Probably a corroded connection at one of the plugs that goes between the door and the loom. Disconnect any you find, spray with wd40 and and toothbrush and reconnect. If no joy, you will have to start tracing signals. Could also be a poor connection at the door and window control box above the fuel tank in the boot.

It'll be a dirty connector inside the door. You need to remove the inner door skin, warning it's heavy, and it'll be one of the plugs inside there. Fine emery paper to clean the contacts etc. You may find your windows speed up as well.

alright. I'll mess with the connectors and the stuff in the boot. I'll report what worked.

Thank you!

So, couple of tips for someone else looking at this. If you are doing anything in the mirror, it is way easier to take the mirror off. Just two bolts and the wires come up out of the hole. You don't need to take the door panel off either, the wires come right up.

In my case, a previous owner had replaced the door switch, but just wrapped the wire into the old wire instead of doing it right, so the wire came loose. Looks like one of the terminal pins corroded off, so I just need to replace the pins and I'll be good to go.
