What's the current going rate on a steering rack?
Ballpark figures (from what I've been quoted), re-furb £500 + VAT, if it needs a new bar due to corrosion that's another £200 + VAT and then fitting (yet to find out!). I've seen quotes about £200 higher than that though.Having said that, mine now looks a thing of beauty and would look good on a coffee table!! Shame to hide it in the depths of the engine bay!
Can't wait to get it back!!

I have a new one and just contemplating whether to sell it or not and what the going rate would be.
Before you do, do some research as the prices I was quoted for a secondhand one that needed a re-furb (to reduce garage time) made my eyes water!!Unless it's to someone on here, in which case they're a good cause and should be supported!
I'm told the rack is specific to the Cerbera.
But the good news is I've got mine back now and the grin is back!!

Last time I checked, which was several years ago, the 602mm rack bar that is needed by the Cerb is NLAYou can get new 665mm rack bars, as used by the T cars, I even have a rack available in this size
I did try fitting it on the Cerb with the shorter tie rods, but it does not work at all, I had to remove it again immediately as the bump steer was insane
I guess it should be possible to turn a 665mm bar in to a 602mm bar with some work, but finding someone reputable to do that is probably beyond me

Thankfully, they made me a new bar from scratch!!! And their engineering looks top notch (to me at least!!!).You can get new 665mm rack bars, as used by the T cars, I even have a rack available in this size

I had heard (this week) about new ones being available but I prefer them to do the whole job as I'm very capable of messing the whole thing up and making it unrepairable!! Getting the big nut off the end without damaging the threads looks a bit of a challenge!
Now we just need some more of this sunshine!!

I haven't stopped driving it all winter but I have just had a 12k service done.
New AP brake disks and Pagid RST3 Pads on the front.
Newly silvered headlight reflectors fitted
Hall sensor throttle pots fitted (huge benefit)
clutch slave seals replaced
Full geo set up with the front camber reduced to -2 from - 3.5
New R888R tyres are on order and will be fitted in the next few weeks ready for the Club Brands Hatch track day.
Oh yes it got a wash.

It's the other way round now with the short rack bar available new from Motaclan but the later ones unavailable.
That is excellent news, as they were NLA for yearsPerhaps now I might be able to sell the H0747 rack I have

Over many years I've learnt that the original design is usually best, so although you can often add something like heat protection, best not make a fundamental change
