Replacing Backplate Handbrake
Discussion
I need to replace the "backplate handbrake" on my Cerbera. The spacer tab/stop (just above where the handbrake cable goes thru) was broken off. Has anyone already replaced that and how.
This is how it looks like:

Take everything in the way off.
Make sure you reset your Handbrake adjuster on both sides once you've done it.
And pulled all the exhaust off to slacken off the Handbrake cable enough to allow the new back plate to fit.
And don't lose and of the Brake Shoe parts as they are an arse to find new...
Easy peasy.
- Wheel
- Caliper
- Disc
- Handbrake Mech
- Driveshaft nut (noting which way it undoes)
- Find a "massive fking breaker bar" and undo the 3 Hex Head Screws in the back of the hub
- Hope the Driveshaft pops out the Wheel Bearing easily.
- Replace Backplate

Not those, the actual handbrake mech parts, the levers and spreader bar.
Ah, we’ve all got the wrong end of the spring then. In a positive note, we know the better type of spring to install to avoid interference issues…next time I’m in that area I’ll bear it mind to check.
Hmm, I'm having difficulties in accessing the 3 hex head screws as the half-shaft is in the way.
My hope was to push the driveshaft so far back to at least get access to the 3 hex screws.
I see 2 possibilities:
a) remove the half-shaft either on the diff or axle side and then slide the axle out
b) removing the top bolt on the upright (top of pic) and tilting the upright outwards and hopefully slide out the driveshaft
Or is there another trick I don't see to access the hex-head screws ?

If you want to try and do it that way then maybe some of these would help.

You may be better off just pulling the upright off.

Finally I got the backplate replaced, I wasn't able to loosen the 3 hex screws in the upright, So the entire thing had to come out. Below a few pictures so you see what you expect when got the same luck. Before you install the new backplate, make sure those bolts with the hammer-head (from the fitting kit) go in easily. I had to file out both holes a bit because they got stuck and one of the holes is not accessible from the other side if the backplate is mounted. The top bolt of the suspension arm allows to set camber angle. Anyone knows the correct value ? (I took it from the other side 1.5 degrees negative, a bit much in my opinion)
