I stuck the Cerbera on some scales at the weekend. Bearing in mind that it has A/C and was more or less brim full of petrol anyone car to guess what it came out at?

It is supposed to be 1100kg (and my Griff is supposed to have 340bhp )

So 1100kg dry

plus fluids (say 10kg), plus petrol (50kg), plus driver (90kg), plus a few spares and bits and pieces in the boot (5kg), plus a Megadeth CD or two (1kg) plus enough pies to last to the next filling station

=

1256.7 ???

Hellium filled tyres, an anorexic air head blonde passenger and a pie starved driver.

1080.

I make up the 'offical' BHP figures two.

Trebble top.......190

Bugger I left the CD's in!
It came in at a fraction under 1200kg, take off 60kg for the petrol and we worked it out at 1140. Not bad I thought. Mind you it is minus its cats which are quite heavy.

That was without me or my pies.
I was quite pleased with that, I thought it would be a bit more.

Well i starved myself for a week emptied the cds out and still got overtaken in my Chimaera 400 by a couple of Ceberas at Elvington airfield like i was standing still. That was the momment i decided that i had to have one next. Have any of you owned a Chimaera before and which did you prefer? S3TAY.

Well, if we owned a Chimaera before, then we just hankered after a Cerbera

It's better in almost every way except hard top and more expensive. And arguably doesn't sound as good at idle.

I had a chim 450 before. I went off that quite quickly. Found the engine ran out of puff but sounded great at idle and around town. Got tired of the styling (bit too classic for my liking) but the roof down was fab. Always felt vunderable without a roll bar. The Cerb is a completely different beast. No comparison. Go for it. The engine is so powerful that I am still exploring its abilities 9 months into ownership. IT looks as good as any supercar, sounds fab etc etc....

I had a 4 litre Chimaera for 3 years, thought it was the quickest thing on the road, never had a performance vehicle before. Then I went to the Castle Combe track day in 2001. Similar experience to yours, OK in the twisty bits but left for dead as soon as the track opened out, thought, got to have more power.
I have to say that in all honesty the Chimaera felt just as quick on the road, but I think only because the Chimaera engine is more punchy in the low rev range and I value my license. Brakes are a lot better, except the hand brake. I think the Cerbera is more driveable in the wet, doesn't seem to lose traction as readily.
Can't wait for a track day.
The only thing I miss is not being able to remove the roof.
