Bit of a hairy moment on Friday night!!
Travelling north on the M5 just south of the M6 junction, at lets say a little over the legal limit, when what should happen?? Yes the drivers side rear sock snapped.
Well - big clunk and lots of smoke and a quick trip to the hard shoulder.
Bad point - two hours in the cold and wet playing eye spy with my girlfriend while the AA got a pickup low enough!!
Good point - I finally had to put AVO's on the beast. What can I say FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

How did you decide on AVOs ? I am considering changing mine and am not sure whether to go for Avos or Nitrons. My car is currently on standards without a rear anti roll bar and so needs something to sort the handling a little. Not sure if AVOs without an ARB are ok or whether Nitrons (at more money) or the way to go.
In what way is it better?
What springs?

I had a long conversations with Andy at APM and Jools, and for the type of driving I do the AVO's where the most cost effective option.
I've got standard springs on at the moment, but heavier ones are in the post (350 Lbs rating).
The shocks have improved the handling completely. I suspect that the original rears were probably a little tired but the rear seems far more stable.
The most noticeable improvement is at speed on motorway. Before the car tended to wander under acceleration(a little off putting). I think it was due to the rear squating and letting air under the front.
Now with the AVO's, it sticks like sh*t to a blanket and very stable, even under heavy acceleration or braking.
On bendy roads and rounderbouts it wallows less and has far more control, more like a Lotus Elise.
I can understand why TVR are now putting adjustable shocks on the latest Cerbera's. Of all the parts on a car I would have thought that the suspension is fairly fundimental!!
