For those of you who haven't seen the inside of the V8 - these shorts were taken when I was rebuilding my motor. They're Q.I. - I think . . .

Forgive the shaky vids. Not trying to create any dramatic style - just holding phone in one hand while turning the crank with the other smile

Yes, thanks for sharing!

That's probably the best overview of how an AJP works that I've seen - off to scratch my head!! getmecoat

And somehow almost hypnotic - maybe you should do a full-length version that we could use as a screen-saver! nerd

Perhaps the more seasoned posters out there might recognise the classic '70s prog rock track - I'll say no more. smile

Sounds like a Rick Wakeman cover version of Yes's "Wondrous stories".

I'll give you points for that. The first vid is Yes - Wonderous Stories. The second - to be honest I can't remember, but you could be right with a Wakeman cover. It's the sort of thing I occasionally dial into. thumbup

Ah, Camel - seasoning is such an individual matter of taste. I'm not one to judge on taste in music (or anything else), but going back to the '70's for me is a happy place - and as such is a good state to be in when building an engine. Good times, good memories, good sounds, good engine. smile

Rob, - wish I'd thought of that. Unfortunately she's all back together now. Not going to strip her back down just for a vid. However - maybe a blender render. Hmmm. thinking..

Rotating an open deck liner engine with no hold down clamps...

Not for me, hope all goes OK though.

Is there really any chance of the liners moving?

I've turned the engine over loads of times with the heads off, never occurred to me that anything untoward might happen

It's very dependent on a huge number of factors. Temperature, lubrication amount and material, ring pack design (inc bore loading), bottom of liner sealing method, time post liner fitment to time of rotation, speed of rotation, etc etc, etc, the list goes on forever...

But when your looking to control liner height to less than 0.09mm throughout the circumference, on an MLS style gasket. I wouldn't risk it.
