. . . the cheezy lift muzak made me giggle.
Perhaps the more seasoned posters out there might recognise the classic '70s prog rock track - I'll say no more. M
Ah, Camel - seasoning is such an individual matter of taste. I'm not one to judge on taste in music (or anything else), but going back to the '70's for me is a happy place - and as such is a good state to be in when building an engine. Good times, good memories, good sounds, good engine.

Is there really any chance of the liners moving?
I've turned the engine over loads of times with the heads off, never occurred to me that anything untoward might happen
It's very dependent on a huge number of factors. Temperature, lubrication amount and material, ring pack design (inc bore loading), bottom of liner sealing method, time post liner fitment to time of rotation, speed of rotation, etc etc, etc, the list goes on forever...I've turned the engine over loads of times with the heads off, never occurred to me that anything untoward might happen
But when your looking to control liner height to less than 0.09mm throughout the circumference, on an MLS style gasket. I wouldn't risk it.
