I appreciate in the great scheme of Cerbera maintenance, this isn't at the top end hehe, but bear with me!!

The padding around the roll-bar above my head has fallen off. The garage put it back on with some double-sided tape which worked fine until the car was left out in the sunshine, when it fell off again!

I've tried spraying contact adhesive and again this works until the sun comes out!!

I've also tried more/better double-sided tape (not yet gone to Gorilla tape!!) with the same result.

So, what's the consensus? Do I bite the bullet and use some Tiger Seal or similar (seems a bit "permanent") or is there something else people use that works?

I'd like to get it fixed as it annoys me every time I get in and she's going to visit Joolz in a few weeks' time and I'd like her to look her best!!! wink

Thanks in advance

Rob
PS I've discounted welding it on!! nono

I have a roll of 2mm thick foam double sided tape used for holding number plates etc.
Very sticky, the foam helps against vibration. I’d expect that to work effectively.

You can get high temp upholstery adhesive which may be worth a try.

A big fat full length strip of sticky backed Velcro worked for me, I went that route as it’s easy to take on and off… It stuck to the cage nicely but I had to glue it to the foam.

Thanks for the input guys - will probably give the velcro a go - as you say, it's less permanent.

If not, I hadn't thought of the number plate fixing tape - I tend to use short strips when I've changed mine, so will give that a try.

For the high temp spray, the following bit frightened me a bit!! eek

"Note: Fast-Fix is not suitable to use on the following:

Heavily plasticized PVC vinyl.

Polystyrene."

I'll let you know how I get on!

Thanks again

Hi Rob,

I would be very interested to hear your results.

I asked Graham (ex-service manager at Fernhursts) about the problem and he gave me a can of Solvitol spray-on Adhesive.
It worked for about 4 days on each successive application
I have been running cover-less for years now and it still niggles me, so let us all know how you get on, eh ?

A couple of dabs of Sikaflex 221. About 1/3 & 2/3 way along the tube. Prop up the cover and leave overnight to set. It won't come off until you get in with a razor blade to cut the rubber glue. I did mine about 5 years ago now. No probs.

Quick update:

I went with the Velcro solution, buying some proper branded velcro. My thoughts being that if it doesn't hold, I can fix the backing tape using Silkaflex!

So far so good, but not exactly been tested in the sunshine yet!

Well Rob,

I used the Silkaflex and it was easy to apply.

Left it overnight...

.... and she's still up there

BUT
As you say, no real world testing done yet.

We'll see....
