Headlight reflector replacement
Discussion
Following on from my previous question about sourcing replacement reflectors for the 7 inch reflectors I now have some due back from the silver plating place in a week or so.
My question now is around fitting.
Is this a do at home job or best done in a garage with proper alignment equipment?
How much of a PITA is it to get the pod out to gain access?

Hi,
It is a bit of a fiddly job, but not overly complicated. If you've already got them out, you've passed the mastic removal stage. In the past, I'd marked on a wall in front of the car with tape crosses where the low and high beams were brightest, and used those to align when refitting (assuming the car hadn't moved). You could use a similar method to get them in the ballpark and then check when back on its wheels.

The two month lead time at the platters pushed me down the route of sourcing a second set so I am starting from scratch.
IF you have not got the glass out AND assuming they have not been bodged before, (the surround gets bladed off at the top and 2 M6 nuts at the bottom) the glass can be (marked for orientation) peeled out of the OE rubber rings and the two fillets of sealant can be carefully removed at the adjuster point (this allows you to adjust the levels later). The price depends on the condition of the units and so how much preparation will be needed. I think about £200 per reflector should cover it.
