Hi,

I'm having a look at a friends Cerbera 4.5 that is very hard to start and looking on some ideeas/advice on how to find the problem.

Symptons are: long cranking, if it starts, runs on 4cyl.(allways EVEN bank), ODD bank injectors dont fire! if kept running, eventualy the ODD bank injectors begin firing but runs rough, shakes, "spits" back fuel from all itbs

Done so far: replaced fuel pump and filter, cleaned injectors, flushed old fuel(car is off the road for at least 5yers), recalibrated TPS's, replaced spark plugs and leads(red magnecore), checked voltages and continuity / impedance on wiring loom and injectors and coils, checked ECU fault codes and only one i can find is battery voltage(car has Optima gel battery and MBE 941 ECU) ....at this point i've ran out of ideas...i suspect the ECU might have some intermitent issue with ODD bank injectors...

Any sugestions are welcomed!

Swap the ECU with a known good one, or ask someone to try the suspect ECU in their car

I have had weird issues with my engine but only when the ambient temps are hot and the car has been in traffic

As soon as I swapped the ECU the issues vanished

Do a continuity test on the signal wiring back to the ecu, or temporarily put another wire in to eliminate that. Also check you have a good 12v feed to that side too .. you can take a (fused!) supply direct off the battery if you want (don't trust that just because one bank works that the 12v feed to both sides is good).
But then .. as mentioned above ^^ ecu swap time to test that. The older the ecus get the more we are seeing (un-fixable) issues with them, and they are horrendously expensive second-hand (anything up to 1000 pounds!) .. so it's no surprise I do more cerbera emerald conversions because the original has failed, than conversions for people who are just after the extra bells and whistles ...

Allready did the continuity test with a multimeter, all wires test ok, comparing side to side and from end to another.
Would another EPROM/PRAM make sense ?

Unfortunatly another car or ecu is not available in my country, at this time
