With the Dallas chip now seemingly no longer made (was recently under the Maxim name apparently) and the only things coming up in searches are chinese cheap versions with the dallas name on them ..

What do the clever electronics people in the cerbera world think would be a good replacement.

I'm looking at this search on RS ..

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=nvram

looking for alternatives to the dallas 1230AB and 1230Y non volatile ram chips. Access time doesn't seem to be an issue, tvr have used all sorts.

any help appreciated.

Look like Farnell have the Maxim/Analog Devices product in stock.

Does this look like the correct spec?

Note that Maxim were acquired by Analog Devices recently.

Is the above a compatible chip for a late model speed 6?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you Adrian, thats given me confidence to order one.
What's actually involved in fitting a new Dallas chip? My T350Ts on its original one,so 18 years old now.

Erring on the side of caution, I earthed my self and used chip pliers and did not power the car up...this is a chip that on first power up, burns a link that then powers up the internal Lithium battery. It was noticeable that it was learning new settings, but after several start ups and runs it has run fine ever since. I too could not find an invoice that the Nvram had been changed from any of the 8 different TVR garages that had paperwork in it's folder, which I found amazing. Ours is a 2003 car. A@

Edited to say, so people do not confused...that this is not the same method I would use for the 3V dash battery.

Is this the chip that stores the short term fuel trim data?

Yup it's that chip.
The T350 T,was ordered new by me from the factory, arrived May 2005.I've done a massive 5400 miles ,in 100% dry conditions!
But the chip is definitely original.
How would you access and replace the dash battery?

IMHO the subject of the 3V dash ECU battery should be a different topic (the reason that I added my edit) so that it is 'search-able' as an independent topic. ..I will leave that thought with you. A@
