Fuel Tank to Pump Hose Replacement

While fitting my splendid new Peter Essling supplied fuel pump mount I noticed the hose from the tank to the pump was a bit soft and suspect it has never been changed.
A couple of questions for those that have done this; will 1 metre of hose be enough and will the tank need to be drained? Presumably the tank needs to be removed, are there any other jobs worth doing while the tank is out?

You can do it without removing the tank. There is a hole filled with silicone sealant that the hose passes through and then a jubilee clip on the hose that you can just about get too. I took the hose off the pump end first and drained the tank through the hose into something else.
Make sure you replace it with good hose. I went with the 100% ethanol proof from car builders solutions (the second time... ...grrr). I don't recall the length I'm afraid but I don't think it was very long. I had more trouble replacing the pump to the metal pipe in the body of the car (some have pipes through the body some go through the tunnel with the prop shaft). The connection was rusted and I had to adjust the metal pipe route and remake the fitting on the end.

All the engine bay hoses are quite recent, replaced in February 2019 at Taylor TVR. The pump to filter and filter to solid pipe are braided, so hard to know what condition the rubber will be in, but they don't look that old. I'll see if I can find a mention in the history folder. I'll check the return hose that goes to the tank. Does it go to a connection at the top of the tank?The fuel return pipe passes through the offside rear wheel arch, connecting to the right hand rear of the tank (Looking in through the boot) not the easiest to get to I'm afraid, a small mirror and torch will give you an Idea of where it is.
Behind the tank are a few breather hoses and the roll over valve.
Replacing all of these and the filler neck hose eliminated completely any niff of fuel vapour in the boot, maybe not strictly necessary in your case, as with these cars though 'whilst I've got this off/out I may as well.......'

Now you mention it, I do get a niff of fuel vapour in the boot! I'll order some 8mm hose too......Will check the filler neck hose while I'm at it.
Might be relevant, my car is currently getting some of the fuel hoses replaced and its been taking a while. They needed to order a new grade of hose that will cope ok with the new 10% ethanol content fuels that are being introduced.
I must admit I've done no research on this, but thought it worth a mention if you are buying fuel hose.

I removed the old fitting and olive and replaced with AN6 tube adapter to allow PTFE hose to connect the whole Tank/Pump/Filter/Hardline set up. Rubber fuel hoses completely removed. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150672198035?itmmeta=01...Many thanks in advance!
