ElectroGenic Cerbera EV conversion

35kW... The range will be around 120 miles, not a lot more.
However, price appart, this could be a very nice daily car to commute with.

If you added softer suspension, heated seats, sat nav, decent stereo, working heater, all the othe modern gubbins etc etc.. All the stuff you actually want from a nice daily.
The range wouldn’t bother me. I don’t drive long distances in mine anyway. The acceleration would be amazing. Battery location is the big challenge. The loss of a V8 soundtrack is sad and the challenge of driving a V8 sports car. I wonder if you had a petrol and electric TVR - which one would you drive the most.

Electrogenic on Instagram are converting a Cerbera to EV, with a tesla motor.
35Kw battery pack in the front, motor down the tunnel, could be one to watch
That's interesting, Tesla seem to be leading the way in this technology, the latest Tesla S is using a 3 phase AC induction motor (1890 invention) to drive the front wheels via a motor speed controller (inverter) to invert the DC to AC, for the rear wheel drive they are now using a permanent magnet (DC brushless) reluctance motor, the AC motor is good for performance, the DC motor is good for range, in theory this combination should be the best of both worlds, what type of motor are they using for this project ? My guess would be the AC induction motor, is there a linky ? 35Kw battery pack in the front, motor down the tunnel, could be one to watch

Much more depth under the bonnet than the floor area, batteries could be in layers
Clever innit
Bye bye 50:50 weight distribution.Clever innit
Another bunch of batteries in the boot?
The Tesla works well because it's a clean sheet design, weight distribution is cleverly optimised but it does make for a taller car. As others have already said, sports cars do not lend themselves well to this EV malarkey.

Seeing as the Cerbera is traction limited anyway.. Unless they went 4x4 I doubt it would be much faster. Once a Cerb gets into it's stride an EV is starting to tail off..Sacrilege...
For me, the Cerbera is really characterized by the V8, the thunderous exhaust, the pops and bangs, the rifle-bolt gearshift, the slight whiff of petrol and masses of heat that emanate from the engine and gearbox.
I also quite enjoy refuelling, as we only pay about 60p/litre over here, and someone always wanders over to ask what it is and what’ll it do.
An electric version that forgoes all this?
Not likely!

Here it should be about the half, the AJP8 is light, but this car was previously equipped with a LS. And if you remove the gearbox, you should be close to the 200kgs, no? And the electric engine will compensate the weight of the fuel tank.
