Heater platying up and light bulbs

My heater was going off today without me pressing the button. Anything obvious? Is the heater etc behind the dash?
Think one of my front main beam light bulbs has gone. Are these as much hassle as Chimaeras bulbs to change?

Regarding the heater…I had the problem of the heater fan running all the time regardless of the knob being pressed in or not…turned out to be a short in the ribbon cable (cable had been trapped) from the board on the back of the switch panel to the control unit in the passenger footwell. Replaced ribbon cable and no other problems

Aha ! My fag ligher was repaired the other week which involved removing the stereo. So that might have disturbed some wiring in that area?
