Just got my first TVR, 4.2 Cerbera with upgrade to 390bhp via TVR Power in Coventry. Couldn't stop smiling all the way home from Cardiff to Maldon in Essex.
On the FTVR history, Henley's make a note that the front lip spolier is missing. Guy how sold it to me says that it's not a problem. Can any confirm and tell me what this is for?

cheers

There's a thread on it here:

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=13101&f=9&h=0&hw=chin+spoiler

About Griffs, though! Suppose it's similar on a Cerbera?

FWIW, mine's in the boot and I haven't had any problems.

Saw a note a couple of months back stating that the chin spoiler was supposed to aid stability at speed. Don't have one on my 4.2, never noticed it to be unstable, but never been on a track with it, yet.

My Chimaera hasn't got one either. I asked Mole Valley about it and they said it'd just come off at the first road hump you drive over! Also, I've been on many trackdays and haven't been concerned with the high speed handling...

Isnt it for high speed cooling? Directs a bit of airflow over the crank case or thereabouts at high speed?

Matt.

They quickly fall off after a few speed humps, I never bothered putting it back on after about the 3rd time.

What about this 390bhp then? What work did they do? Is there any dyno proof? I had no idea TVR Power were doing AJP work. 390 certainly seems optimistic without a LOT of work!

Ripped my spoiler off after about 2 days of getting my Cerbera.Fortunately it is probably the least expensive part of the car apart from the air in the tyres! I think it was about £17+ VAT.I believe the purpose is for cooling but it makes an excellent tell tale for speed bumps.

At high speed I've had no problems... temp always drops to 80C (on the dial anyway!)

Is this the black 'thing' that is lower than the front spoiler but not attached to it?

What do you mean a red herring? TVR Power just making up power claims? Certainly I met someone with a Chimaera once, who claimed he had 400 bhp from TVR Power with merely a distributorless ignition and air flow meter upgrade.

THanks for all the replies. Spoke to TVR Power in Coventry and Blackpool. Engine upgrade is total bull! Engine was actually fully rebuilt but not upgraded. Slight worries about previous owners honesty?!

Just talking spoilers on Saturday night, as you do, and discovered that some people have theirs fitted what appears to be the wrong way round! I made up a replacement for my cerby and asked the guys to fit it while they had it on the ramp - course they fitted it the wrong way round - I think!!
Should the lower end be towards the back of the car?(the way mine is). Or should it be more like a snow plough?
Anyone know/care?

'Snow Plough' is correct way round, but gets torn off too often. 'Backwards pointing' is actually wrong, but mine's like that it is still attached to the car despite numerous groundings, bashings, and impacts with small furry animals.

Don't worry. I doubt it does anything, whichever way around it is fitted. It certainly won't induce lift or create downforce.

Rob.

Cerbeboy,

You're worrying me, it is blue. Tell me the bad news!
