Buying a Cerbera
Discussion
Cant tell you specifics on Cerbs I am afraid, but £17K is only going to get you a P plater or thereabouts so I would suggest sticking £200 a month away as a slush fund just in case.
They dont like being scrimped on and as for example a clutch is the best part of a grand its useful to have some money aside.
Matt.

Did the deed myself 3 months ago but decided to let the chaps a Peninsula Automotive find me a good one, although I had run a Chimeara for 3 years, I was not confident to go it alone.
Anyway for what it is worth, Check the oil pressure at startup, pressure should come up quickly and be 50 - 60psi, seen higher numbers quoted. Once the engine is warm, after say 10 miles then, at Idle, you should have around 40psi.
All the V8's I ever heard rattle pretty well when cold thay are just noisy when warm. Personally I would beware of any "cyclic" noises.
I have read many notes on oil consumption, my 4.2 uses about 1 litre every 1500 miles which I am told is quite good, maybe I just don't thrash it enough.
Handbrakes are all useless. As you are looking at an older car Take a close look at the chassis. Also there was a recall on front suspension uprights, (?). There were other useful to have mods on older cars, door seals etc, hopefully somebody else has details.
Some cars do not have the CAT's fitted, worth a look as you won't really want to find out that at MOT time.
If you are buying privately, check out the way the owner treats it when cold, the AJP needs TLC until it is properly warmed up. If they floor it from cold, ride the clutch etc I would walk away and protect my bank account, drive a few of them yourself before you part with cash.

I looked at the paradise Purple one in the classifieds, it’s up for £18000 and just had a big service, the paint was excellent, no chips etc. well worth the money unfortunately a change of plans means I’m not in the market for a Cerbera anymore! It really is stunning and I still keep thinking about it, Worth taking a look at!

Buy, as Jo (member of the Ratpac) says : Your house can't do 0-100 in less than 10 secs, but you can sleep in your car !!! So we're moving house so we can keep ours !!!!
Seriously though, it'll be a shame, but sounds like you've got the bug, so you WILL be back for more !
