Well I have got to let my 97 4,2 Cerbera go to a new home…I am going to work in South Africa for 12/18 months and I cant take it with me.

Where are the best places to advertise TVR’s (I am taking on this site as a given)?

How much should I be asking… its silver, full leather, air con, hydratrak, 25k miles ftvrsh with 12 months left on the warranty. I was thinking about £18,995?

Now what should I get when I come back??!!!!

Hi

Sorry and just my opinion. That asking price feels light to me. With 12 months label, that's the right colour and history (again IMHO) you are selling cheap.

Possibly,

But then it depends how quickly the gentleman wishes to sell it.

I agree its too cheap, look aroud and some people are asking £23k or more, some less. I rareley see one with your spec for less than £20k and certainly not with 12 mths left on the warranty. I have a similar car slightly older which I'll be selling shortly and would'nt sell that cheap. That being said if you have to sell it urgently then you have to take a hit. Good luck.

A 97 4.2? Are you serious that you think it should go for more?

I just wish you'd been around when I was selling my late '98 4.5.

I'd say that it's probably worth arounf £17k tops. Even if it's got a low mileage on it.

Exactly. You'll see a lot of them advertised for that sort of money, but they don't sell for it. If it was a 4.5, it would be worth more, but I've seen people almost have to give away 4.2's.

As you say, if he wants to sell it quickly, he'll have to advertise it at a realistic price. If he advertises it for this sort of money, he'll probably still sell it for the same, but he'll be holding onto it for longer.

I'm new to Cerbie Ownership but have to say it will depend upon the condition of the car. I viewed lots of cars recently all with pretty much the same asking price milage etc and they ranged from immaculate to shocking. Same goes for test driving. Some rattled and squeeked for England and others were solid as a rock.

I think you can get 19K or more for the car if it is a good example. On the plus side it has just gone through a big service and has a warranty wich can only help.

When people go to buy these cars it is not with their head so if the car it looks great drives well they'll stump up the readies.
