Air con problem
Discussion
Does anyone know if there are any fuses/relays for the a/c power supply to the pump.I have done a direct connection straight from the battery and the clutch cuts in ,and the a/c works. The blue light inside the car works fine.I can only assume if there is no fuse etc that the ribbon wire is faulty.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
normally the cause if the pump not operating is due to the pressure switch-bassically if there is to much or to little gas(r134a)then the switch will cut the pump out.The most likely is no gas-check the 2 unions that come off of the compressor(high side/low side)are they alluminium or brass and can you see any fractures on them(normal cause of leaks).
another check you can do but it helps if you are mechanically minded is to run a 12 volt feed dirrectly to the a/c pump (use 2.5mm gauge wire if poss) with the engine running and cold air fans on for a maximum of 2 minutes(any longer and the gas if any will over pressure the system and escape-loud hiss/bang)check the air temp coming out by hand or by digital thermometer-if it is cold (2-4 deg.c)then you have an electrical fault either at the switch or the a/c-heater control unit(above the passanger kick panel-check the ribbons havent pulled out)and if it isnt cold then its low gas and needs a re charge and check for leaks

Thanks for the advice , I connected the direct 12 volt link which showed the a/c works fine. There is power going into and out of the black control box.So i now deduce its the pressure relief switch , can any one tell me where it is located?.Thanks again

On the same lines - my A/C was pissing water after a 3 hr hot drive a week ago. I reckon almost a pint of cold water came out when I patked he car up. Now the a/c isnt cold at all - does this sound like a gassing or more serious problem with the a/c?
There is no water in the a/c system. It is probably condensate from the evaporator. How was it "pissing water"? Do you mean like a jet from somewhere? Or did it appear like a puddle under the car somewhere - this is quite normal.
Roar on.
I've just got mine re gassed today (Chim) because it packed up.
Can't tell you how much it was because they couldn't find the invoice while I was there, and the guy who had been sorting it was out.
I had aircon regas.
Boot re aligned as it was up a bit on one side.
Check to see if manifold gaskets were leaking, (check vaccuum advance).
They Test drove it today to check all o.k.
