Well I've just bought a 96 'P' 4.2, it's at Offord for the next week or so having a big service, new rad and a few other bits. How exciting

I intend to run it for a month or so then get some other small bits sorted out such as teh chassis getting a waxoil, teh stonechips out etc etc.

One thing that came out of the inspection was that the disks will need replacing before long, what options are there for upgrades? Or alternatives? There was a rumour that Tuscan disks would fit? Are they better? More money?

This also means I'll be looking for some wheels so if any of you happen to have a set you need to offload....

Cheers

CONGRATULATIONS !!! Welcome to the club !

As for disks, the only upgrade I know of is to go to Tuscan S disks, but they don't fit 4.2's (are the same size as a 4.5)... I think without spending money on spacers/wheels you'll have to stick with stardard 4.2 disks. But you can fit stickier pads... Best person to speak to will be Joolz at www.joospeed.co.uk. He can supply (& fit) various brake upgrades....

Cheers for the replies. I need to speak to Jools re getting a handling kit on it at somepoint, but I need to get it back from Offord first and drive it for a few months.

I suppose I'll have to sell the Griff now :-(

You can replace the standard 4.2 discs with drilled items of the same diameter (from the regular Tuscan?). Cerbie 4.2 front brake callipers are smaller than on the 4.5 and Tuscan S, so you can't fit the larger discs from these cars. I ordered my drilled discs from TMS and fitted myself. No discernable difference in braking performance, but they look better.
