Wheel question....
Discussion
Morning,
Can someone tell me which wheels went on when? I know the initial 4.2 had 16" like this..
www.pistonheads.com/members/showCar.asp?carId=2805
However I like these wheels...
www.pistonheads.com/members/showCar.asp?carId=1589
Are they a bolt on replacement? If so can I get any and are they 17 or 18 inch?
Thanks
David

My car!!
I believe that the wheels that you are showing that you like are the wheels off a 4.5, although it looks like Flasher had them put on his 4.2.
Since they are TVR items I should think it quite easy to get some 17's put on a 4.2. I think the newer 18 inch spiders need some small modification to the car to stop them scuffing the wheel arches. This has an adverse affect on the turning circle.
Really must get that horrible plastic bag removed from the picture of the car!!

Yes Flasher had the (then) 4.5 wheels put on it, I now have 18" spiders on it.
I reckon these are the way to go as the car looks good on them. Also the 17" wheels in the picture are no longer supplied by TVR so you will have to get a 2nd hand set.
There should be plenty around from people upgrading to 18" wheels. They are a bolt on fitment and do not rub the wheelarches, it is only the 18" wheels that need spacers on the steering rack.

The 16inch wheels were (& still are ?) fitted to 4.2's & Speed 6 Cerbera's.
The Raceline RL7's were fitted to the 4.5's, first in 17inch, then 18 became an option, then 18 became standard (in 1999 ?).
As Clive says, there was then a problem witha batch of the RL7's, so TVR started fitting Spiders (as fitted to the Tuscan) as standard from some time in 2001 (I think)...
