I have recently had the front end of my Cerbera resprayed as part of a light conversion. I may have just been unlucky but I have only done 1000miles since and the front end is now worse than when it went in. (Car is 6yrs old first respray)Every trip long or short causes more stone chips. Apart from the awful looking Armorfend (IMO) is there anything else that can be done to protect the car?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance

There has been talk on here recently that both TVR and Webbs in Bristol are using some sort of 'rubber' primer to sit between the paint and the GRP. Apparently it provides some sort of cushion and will absorb some of the impact of the stone protecting you a little more from the dreaded chips.

Matt.
I'd take it back and ask them if this was normal.
They reckon a respray will be needed approx very two/three years – so for you to have the front worse now than before the repray and conversion sounds wrong.
Take it back straight away and put them under a bit of pressure to come up with reasons ...

Yeah,
Let me know how you get on. I've also had the Zertec conversion and am now suffering from stone chips much worse than before the conversion. I was thinking pehaps I've just been unlucky. Or, Perhaps there is a special technique for painting fibreglass cars that wasn't followed. Maybe they need more coats or special primer or longer to dry between coats. I've also heard of at least one case of where the pods have begun to sink after six months because corners were cut during the bonding in stage.
Cheers, Steve

Well I have spoken to the garage and blow me they say I am not the first and they are working on the problem.
It looks as if they will be painting the car again once they have found out the problem with their painting process. I have to ring them in a week to sort out the finer details so i will keep you all informed of the outcome.
Thanks for your advice it was well worth the price of a phone call.

I have also had a Zetec Light conversion on my Griff and its starting to look a little tatty…..but only on one side….the driver side……which, thinking about it, makes me think its stones being propelled forward by oncoming traffic....
………I also have the problem….that if I go out to polish my car any more the neighbours are going to think im sniffing Turtle Wax
