18 inch Spiders?

Not creepy crawlies but alloy wheels!.I am thinking of putting them on my 97 4.2 cerb any thoughts?.Questions are, will they rattle my fillings out? I know cerbs are prone to buggering drive shafts will this make things worse?And also what sort of money are people paying for them?.One more thought do they look pony with the standard brake calipers and discs?Any photos?Enough questions me thinks.

Changed to the 18" spiders a couple of months ago and to be honest did not notice that much difference in the ride, didn't feel any harsher than usual, the turning circle although technically larger was not noticeably different but the car does however feel a bit more surefooted and planted at speed. Must admit that the spiders make the car look a lot better and brings it up to spec with the newer models. I prefer the anthracite finish over the silver. For a set of anthracite spiders and new tyres with fitting and necessary adjustments I paid £1400+vat, can be done cheaper as I am sure I have seen £1200 being bandied about since.

they seem to rub the drivers side rear wheel on the bodywork when you hit a 'dip' at high speed, with 4 up or luggage in boot. Later cerbs with these wheels have different rear shocks, which mine ended up needing....seen 2 other cerbs with the otside edge of the rear tyre looking a bit melted!

Never had spiders on my cerbera but had them on a Tuscan.I found the ride to be very fidgety, requiring almost constant steering input.While these wheels look tremendous, and if I still had my cerbera I would be considering them,the suspension geometry has been designed for 16 inch wheels.Its like BMW spending millions on developing the suspension on their cars and someone comes along and fits a 150 quid lowering kit and screws it all up.Best to leave it as it was designed unless you can afford a development project.

Anybody read last months EVO on the Tamora on 18" wheels in TCOTY?
They really did not like the effect and slated the Tamora handling because of it (when compared to the 16" wheels they'd previously tested). There was reference to different suspension set up that may improve matters though.
Any owners who've experienced both on trackdays able to comment? Preferably unbiassed

Just fitted spiders on my late 97 4.2 today. Spent half an hour mesmerised by the effect - looks brilliant! Tomorrow (today now), I'm actually going to drive it. It'll be "interesting" to feel the difference. Also got mine from TMS, who recommend 8.5J (fronts) all round to avoid problems with tyres rubbing at the rear.
Just fitted 18" Spiders to my 98 Cerbie too. Used 4 front Tuscan wheels again from TMS. Ride is superb, no catching bodywork either. Fitted collars to the steering rack to stop the fronts catching the wishbones so no problems there. Turning circle is worse but no suprises there!
They also look the Dogs Nads too which must be the number 1 reason for fitting them. Did 175mph on the Autobahn last night and very stable. Much better than the old 17's....

Cant remember the size of S02s I have fitted to my 4 x tuscan fronts BUT they are the same as the 18 inch tyres fitted to the old style 18s. the front tyres look stretched. Mine are 35 walls. I know someone with a 98 cerb who has fitted 40 walls (Toyos) with a slightly less wide tyre at the back and nitrons.
245/40 and 235/40 means the rears clear if you lower the car and the fronts are the right size as before, bit tight in the arch but they do fit, the car looks lower than standerd and you lose those unsightly gaps between the top of the wheel and the arch!, performance wise.... they are sticky and do the job fine,

Same sizes (Toyo 245/40 rear and 235/40 front) supplied to me by TMS - who initially forgot to send me the steering rack spacers, but these are on their way to me now (I live in Madrid). I can't imagine they're too fiddly to fit. And they are necessary, otherwise on full lock the inner wheel rims connect with the inner edges of the front wishbones. At the rear, the ends of my rear half-shafts require about 4mm removed from them if the wheel centres are to fit. I've bought a Black & Decker angle-grinder and hope to do the job myself tomorrow. I can let you know how I get on if you're interested.
