The better half and I Have a trip planned to France in October! If it has arrived I want to take my Cerbera over (please, please God, I don't want to take the MGF with us). Do you think this is wise as it is still running in! Obviously I'll not be running the revs high! Are the first few thousand miles the critical ones or is it hit and miss? From the posts I've read it's hit and miss, but I'd love to hear your thoughts! Jesus I feel like I've been on this forum all day! Hold on I have! I really am going out soon

I think the problem may be cruising at constant speeds? As I understand it, this isn't a good thing for a new engine.

I'm sure a can give a more authoritative answer.

andy you're right .. one of the worst things you can do is hold it at constant revs under light load like motorway driving, but what better reason do you need to get onto some winding back roads ..??

have fun .. Joolz

With regards to running any car, an old boss of mine who had merc's and a quattro sport reckons he was told to warm the car a bit then, vary the rev;s a lot, i.e thrash it then labour it etc. I've adpoted this on every car I've had and never blown an engine yet. I've thrashed the cerb (7,000 rev's) from the first day I had it and five years later it runs faster than ever, and I still have no reservations about thrashing it after the first 2 minutes.
