£55K Cerbera or £110 ferrari 360 Modena ???
Discussion
Its like comparing chalk and cheese, they are totally different animals. In a straight line yes a 4.5 Cerbie is quicker than a 360. but put some bends into the equation and a 360 would leave it for dead. The build quality, engineering detail, general handling and ride are far superior on a 360. I speak from experience having owned a 4.5 Cerbie and a 355 concurrently. Don't get me wrong I love TVR's and now have a Tamora in Cerbie's place, but they ain't no Ferrari, nor in the same league IMHO.

If my memory serves me correctly about 18 months ago EVO did a huge test 360, 550, Cerbera, Esprit etc etc at one of the major circuits ( Silverstone ? ) and the Esprit set the quickest time followed by the 550 and then the 360. The Cerbera was about 5th or 6th from what I recall.
And in any case for a less skilled driver like myself I can assure you the 360 will be quicker A to B, my 355 was for sure and a 360 is a lot quicker than a 355.

Whitey,
Interesting to know which circuit and did the person set times in both ?
The reason I ask is that my Tamora is much quicker A-B than my 4.5 Cerbera was and the handling slightly better than a Tuscan IMHO ( based on same route test drive ) and yet I still think my 355 is quicker than the Tamora. Without taking both onto a track I obviously can't confirm this. You just don't get the drama in a Ferrari ie you always feel that you are well within limits and that it is not going to bite you.

JamesC has it - you buy a second hand 4.5 Cerby and a decent 355 (you may even get change left over for an Elise or Caterham!)
The Cerb is just, well, The Cerb and the 355 is pure, unadulterated, automotive art. Both are beyond compare and attainment of both, either consecutively or simultaneously is something that any self respecting PHer should aspire to.
Having said that if you did have the ability to acvhieve 360-dom, well...(no, no; plan A I think but only just!)

I thought a 4.5 cerb was faster around a track then a 360 , but i'm not sure.... Anybody care to verify this ????
Depends on the track round Goodwood the cerbs were crapping all over the 360's (about 5 of each) with a 2 second margin. Round Castle Combe the 360's were a second quicker.
Can't comment on any other tracks though.
The Cerb is quicker, better looking and IMO has a better interior. The only thing I like about the Ferrari is the gear stick gate.
I would buy a Cerbera, and then a place on the south coast of France with the other 55k so that I could drive the Cerbera down to it during the Holidays.

Anyone know which issue of EVO this was? I'd like to get a back issue.
thanks

You get my vote. I live in France (about 10 miles from Abbeville in the Somme if anyone's interested) and the roads are truly excellent. I'm still awaiting delivery of my cerb but a mate let me try his Tuscan from Calais to my exit on The A16 Autoroute and i had a blast. I found the car to be perfectly suited to driving at sustained highish speed (150-160 mph) on the long, flat, stright(ish), empty Autoroute. Bliss.
Can't wait to get my cerb as I've seen a 360 going up and down like he owns the place ... He'll be in for a shock!

Well said Adam, different cars suit different tracks, just as different drivers are more successful on certain tracks.
Currently converting wife to TVR (pregnant and not driven it yet), but at Knockhill in her dad's Porker Turbo (4WD so no comparison) and his 911 3.8RS (Feffin wild, more TVR handling like) - she completely destroyed all 355s on the track, and only an F40 driven by a mad man beat her, just!! Cars and drivers for different tracks IMO.

Nice one wish I was there to see it for myself!!!
I have got a Cerby 4.5 and my best mate (since the age of 10) has a 360. We have both driven each other's cars but never actually pitted them against each other for one simple reason... they are both simply awesome and knowing the result could destroy a very long standing friendship.
Obviously the Cerbera is the better car and it would be just too much for Gary to stand So he would have to sell the car, thus suffering massive depreciation and loss of respect from his wife, he would turn to drink, lose his wife to a younger better looking man (with a Cerbera) lose the house and end up in the gutter...
all because he HAD to know!
So the answer to your question is.. it all depends on your perspective. Did you post the same question on the 360 owners website?
