Has anyone else needed their camshaft replacing after 14k? Then wait an eternity (almost 2 months) for the car to be returned from Blackpool, as the Dealers aren't allowed to carry out this particular task.

Sorry, to hear about your trouble my Cerbera has only 15k miles on the clock and has two serious mechanical failures since I have had it, it is currently in repair ( 8wks ). I only had the car back 3wks after the first repair ( 7 wks ) by the TVR factory when the engine knackered in again. TVR do not give a S*** and will not do anything to speed up the repair or compensate me for hiring a lease car. As soon as it is repaired I am going to get a more reliable car. I bet this is not your first major repair, I have heard the some Tuscans have to have repairs done similar to yours after only 10k miles.

So are we saying here that TVR don't give you a replacement car (even a Micra) while your TVR is at the factory for factory warrantied repairs? Seems very wrong for any manufacturer to do this. Trefor/.

Sounds familiar...Had the same thing done at about 8000 on my SP6. Had to wait about 6 weeks. Worth it though, the car was so much better when it was returned. Oil pressure was up too!!!!

I sold my Speed 6 at 8k miles as it was the third time I had to have the tappets set ( and I had to pay the last time even though it was only 13 months old!..last straw) I understand it has had 2 engine rebuilds after selling it...sorry someone got caught with that {C5 RBY?} It had all the mods before delivery, but I think the delays are the volume TVR are having to do on Tuscans as well. I'll have another TVR but only with the Rover V8 for now.... a few years and the speed 6 will be sorted and Tuscan is favourite [ and it is 'fabulous' when on song.]

I guess the problem here is that the car has to go back to TVR each time for engine bits to be repaired. I guess you have no choice if you are under warranty, but I'm sure Steve at Thames Racing in Hurst has done a fair bit of work on the AJP V8 - there's always a Cerbie in there when I visit him. What about camshaft problems on the AJP8 engine? Surely the cam shouldn't go soft after 20,000 miles either !!! It must either be a design fault or a quality control problem. Has anyone sued yet ???
Not just AJPs, it seems to be a recurring problem with the Rover engines too. Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
