Car has been back from engine re-build for about 3wks have done 400miles since rebuild with no problems. Had car out last night to try and clock up more running in miles. A ticking noise has developed from the rear of the car (thank god its not the front) it sounds a bit like a worn cam noise and seams to be more prominent (lounder) when going slow. My car is a 96 4.2. Any ideas or comments would be grately appreciated.

I have sports pipes fitted which are fairly new, the noise is more of a ticking rather than a rattle. But its still worth a check thanks.

I've had the same on a off for a few weeks now. Does it go away when you touch the brake. Mine does, I am planning to strip the rear brakes at the weekend to have a quick inspection.

I'am not to sure, I dont think so it is quite hard to hear with all the other noises sports pipes etc. When I pulled into my est going slowly the noise was quite loud. I will have a look tonight when I get home.

Hi

Had this problem on my 98 Cerbera turned out to be the rear pads sticking. It was solved by Richard at Hexham Horseless Carriages, I seem to remember the factory supplied a shim to solve the problem

Sounds like anti-rattle springs problem that I have on mine. Just a Cerbera thing I've been told, Some work, some don't!

had a click on my back brakes until Saturday when Joolz fitted some new pads, apparently a glue/sealant is used on the back of the pads to stop movement. It must work 'cos the noise has gone!

Might be as simple as a ston ein the tread of the tyre! My brakes rattle, but I wouldn't describe it as a ticking noise.

Does it change much with variation in speed, or if you go over bumps ?

The ticking noise it quite common - if it's the pad rattling in the calliper, then the ticking is related to speed. I had this very loud once, again, cured it with Joolz by bonding to the piston.

Thanks for all your help, after further investigation it looks like its just a pad loose in one of the rear calipers.

Car is booked in to Joolz for service and MOT next month so should be sorted then.

Thanks again for all your comments.
