My rear silencer has become detached from the box making an almighty rattle.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a new one without having to pay the £312.00 ex. fitting being quoted by TVR?

I'm considering fitting sports pipes and don't mind paying for those but that seems a bit steep for a standard silencer to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ray

Is it cheap?

This was quoted by Walldonway and I thought it was a bit much for a standard back box.

Now I know it's a good price i'll buy it.

I won't repair it as it's done 15000 miles now so is up for changing anyway.

Thanks for the advice

Hi Mate,
I,m just in the throws of changing my sports exhaust back to std, the price i've been qouted is just over £300 plus the VAT.My point is if you want a sports exhaust you might want the one thats coming off my car.Its in good nick but the only reason I'm changing it is because i want to run some track days and the sports exhaust is without doubt gonna break the noise regs. Its coming off a 97 4.2 should be done some time next week,if you are interested drop me a line your more than welcome to ask the dealer who is exchanging it for me what nick it is in when he changes it over.

S0189 CERB REAR SILENCER ASSY EACH £ 351.56
S0235 REAR SILENCER ASSY EACH £ 366.60
S0254 REAR SILENCER ASSY EACH £ 353.68
S0268 REAR SILENCER ASSY SP6 EACH £ 324.30

from the tms website which is a bit out of date i thought. i couldn't find the parts in the tvr price list. 315 still is cheap though. buy it.

Jools,

I just looked at your website.

Am I missing something with the prices?

You quote £150.00 +VAT for a rear silencer.

Am I being dim????

not dim at all, but maybe my site is .. shall have to check. 150 squids is for a high flow track day silencer with 3 inch tailpipes to take low back pressure inserts. it's made from mild steel so isn't suitable for road use .. it's intended to change on ttrack days to get you through the noise test without sacrificing power like the restriction type inserts do.

Joolz.

I have fitted sports pipes to my 96 4.2 and have a nearly new rear box sitting in the garage collecting dust. I dont think I will ever use the box again if any one would like to make me an offer????

Oh by the way the back box is a 4.5 box not a 4.2 dont ask why as I have no idea the pipes are 1/4" or so larger.
