Have a late 97 4.2. Just installed the double bubble door rubbers & now the window does not go all the way up (stops about 2 inches from top). No obvious obstructions. It almost seems like the window has forgotten where it should stop. Is this adjustable?
Any other ideas?

it seems that the door isnt recognising it is closed. there is a small magnet at the base of the doorframe. if that has fallen out the contact isnt made, the door thinks it is open still, and the window wont shut properly.

Otherwise check connections, sounds simple, but i have problem with one of mine sometimes.

Simond001 is right -- the magnet used in detecting if the door is shut may now be too far away from the sill to register. Try and see if it can be adjested a bit.

I've also heard stories that the slightly thicker seals (i.e. the double-bubble) apply more friction to the windows which can reduce their already glacial movement to pretty much a standstill. I think there was a controller box mod for that one, iirc.

I assume you purchased the seals through a tvr dealer? if so ask them why they haven't supplied you with the door hinge spacers you'll be needing and the high power window control unit chip you'll also be needing ...

did they not supply you with the larger lipped edging for around the door aperture / roofline bit either? sounds like all you got from the original posting is the door seal itself? is that right? muppets.

OK. The chip & door spacers arrived today. But the guy at Mole Valley could not tell me where the damn chip goes! Any ideas? Is it under the passenger seat, in the dash or in the boot?

in the boot above the fuel tank is many of the black boxes that control all the cerbie functions .. one is labelled door control unit. remove hte cover and there'll be two chips in there, one labelled in and one labbeled out. change the in chip and put back together. that'll be 20 quid please :-)

Whilst your at it remove the small hairy green thing technically referred to as 'That b$%&ard window gremlin' and all your window problems will disappear in a flash (hopefully not too much smoke or that will be the crappy connecting block shorting out on the light control).........One by one the penguins steal my sanity. Having had the same problem, I've followed this thread and got the spacers and chip. I've been told it's 8 spacers each side, which I assume is 4 per hinge. Is this correct, as it's going to push the bottom of the door out past the line of the rear of the wing ? Also found that the driver's door already had 3 spacers on the top hinge but none at the bottom !
