Whats fallen off?
Discussion
Got home last night, and thought because it was dark, I'd illuminate the drivers footwell with a torch, and look under the bonnet to see if there is a glaringly obvious place where the water in the footwell is coming from (the dealer has fixed it/broke it and left it broke, going to attempt to fix it on Sat once I've got the instructions from joospeed, but I digress)
I looked on the footwell carpet, and found 2 (1 broken in half) electrical components. Looks like they have a part number (RS 304 560), and look like an LED with a Light Sensor opposite. I looked under, at the steering column, but couldn't ascertain if they came off the little circuit board.
The only thing I can guess at, is that they are the indicator cut off switches, since the Cerby doesn't have the manual canceller, and my indicators do not cancel. Then again, with the water in my drivers side footwell, I've had indicators/windows/doors/lights/everthing play up from time to time (depends if it is hot and the water has chance to evaporate and cover the electrics).
So any ideas what they are? Are they easy to replace, or put up with it and wait for the next time it goes to the dealership?
Thanks,
Paul
Yes they are the crap TVR use to cancel the indicators. If you look at the steering column you will see a disc with a cutout. The LED shines through the cutout when you drive straight ahead. If they are still connected where they should be you might be able to araldite them to the right position. You could always check if it is working by switching on the indicator then align the led with the detector to cancel the indicators. If all else fails use some velcro like TVR use to keep the brake calipers in place (Ho Ho)
I had a knackered indicator switch recently. Could see the problem, thought I could fix it myself. Wrong -
once the steering wheel or the bit underneath it comes off it's hard to put them back without breaking one of the switches or a wire. Eventually got
mine fixed under extended warranty.
