does anyone else find that trying to maitain an even speed at low revs is almost impossible, Driving at around 2200 / 2700 revs and holding a speed say a steady 30 or 40mph is impossible, I get coughing, lag, stutterring, frequently have taken it to a dealer to have it reset but it goes off within miles?...does anyone have the same problems and any ideas, The car is great when its charging, but a dog at low revs, its the only thing I hate about it....

Take it to a different dealer - lots of them don't know how to set the cars up properly. If it has been done properly, it should be ok for several thousand miles, easy.

Where are you based?

PS What do you mean by "having it reset"? If it just means that the dealer plugs in the laptop and resets the ECU maps, then that is NOT fixing it! It's just ignoring the actual problem.

You don't say what model .... 4.2, 4.5 or sp6. My 4.5 runs very cleanly at all revs and throttle openings. To give an example, a friend of mine owns a quarry which is approached by a very rough track which is about a 1 in 7 uphill and I can "walk" my 4.5 Cerbera up this in 1st gear at tickover (850 rpm), feet off the pedals. Now that's what I call tractable! I had my throttle pots replaced about 12,000 miles ago for the same reasons you describe so it sounds like your throttle pots have "gone off", which is not unusual as these, I gather, are pretty unreliable. Other contributors to various threads have described the same problem and cause. They are cheap to replace (apart from dealer labour charges)and if set properly and balanced ought to do the trick. At the risk of groans from the cynical, Optimax really helps low rev running too IMO. I have found that low rev pinking when snapping open the throttle is eliminated as is any hesitation.
Hope this helps.

Try Fernies - they know what they are doing down there... they just did mine for me - mine was a potentiometer issue & unmatched throttle pot readings
