Toyota GR86 UK Launch
Discussion
I read an interesting comment on Trustpilot regarding the latest on-line launch of the new GR86 in the UK…
“ What Toyota UK have actually achieved with the latest GR86 UK launch is to pull an utterly cynical publicity stunt with complete disregard to the loyal customers who were expecting a conventional launch to see the car with the opportunity to test drive it before buying. Paying £30k+ for a car, with limited specs, that one has not seen is just damn stupid and desperate, unless buying the car for the purpose of selling it on after delivery for a substantial profit. And this I fear is what might have happened here. One Toyota franchise dealer I approached on the same day as the on-line GR86 “launch” actually referred to a couple of examples of the Yaris GR which were bought and sold on soon after delivery with a £4k+ profit each. Potentially, great opportunity for insider information manipulation. “When is gone, is gone” indeed Toyota, but what has gone in this instance is not just the over-hyped GR86 but LOYALTY and TRUST. I can assure you mine have gone for good! I am now looking to acquire an alternative car, a European one, of a much better specification.”
Have others had similar experiences?
