I went through the formalities online to renew my driving licence on Tuesday and yesterday - Thursday - the butler picked up the new licence from the doormat.

Well done the DVLA, I say!

Have you lost any driving licence categories from your old licence?

At some point I need to convert from a paper licence but I resent losing categories for no good reason

Not this time, but I have previously. Very annoying, even if I wasn't going to use those categories.

I never send my licence back, so at least you have a document to refer to.
